Greetings Thanksgiving and camping out of Orange County, but not too far, it's still in SoCal near Malibu at Point Mugu State Park! It's Happy 2 years Anniversary HikingOC and our group's Organizer/Sponsor Sam R. invites us to join him this weekend!

We'll spend both Friday and Sat. nights camping Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 coming back Sunday Nov. 13 after a hike.

PLEASE SIGN UP ONLY YOU MEAN TO GO, if you have a habit to take a space, just indicate MAY BE when RSVP as we need a number for booking campsites. UPDATE your RSVP when you will arrive!

Camping Fee NONE (Sam R.'s gift, however, you'll have to pay $8/car/night) We'll be at Sycamore Canyon Campground: flush toilets, hot showers, beautiful ocean views, coastal chaparral, a peaceful wooded canyon and some magnificent sycamores changing colors. 1. Day 1 (Fri. Nov. 11): Meeting at Sycamore Canyon Campground at 2:30PM for a short hike and photos taking at Point Mugu Rock sunset/moonrise. Dinner at 6:30PM, campfire and relax time...

2. Day 2 (Sat. Nov. 12): Optional Yoga-Meditation at 7:00AM
   Hike 1 at 9AM (meet at Sycamore Campground; duration 3-4 hours; distance 5-6 miles, elevation 200-1500ft) A loop: Sereno Canyon to-Boney Mountain-Big Sycamore Canyon starts at Big Sycamore trail, to Sereno Canyon trail to Backbone trail, continue to Old Boney trail, back to Big Sycamore to the trailhead.
   Hike 2 Full Moon Hike at 3:00PM. We will hike Point Mugu Peak and loop to La Jolla Canyon trail. It's a shuttle hike. Drive to Ray Miller trailhead and leave few cars, then carpool to Chumash trail trailhead. Duration: 2-3 hours, distance: 5+ miles, elevation: about 1000ft. We have ocean view the whole way with sunset and full moon tonight (sunset at 4:51PM and moonrise at 6:16PM) Dinner at 7:00PM, group campfire

3. Day 3 (Sun. Nov. 13): Free day. Breakfast and break camp at 8-9AM, optional hikes your choice or leave.

ABOUT POINT MUGU STATE PARK: located in the Santa Monica Mountains, features five miles of ocean shoreline, with rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, sand dunes, rugged hills and uplands, two major river canyons and wide grassy valleys dotted with sycamores, oaks and a few native walnuts. There are more than 70 miles of hiking trails. The beach also features swimming, body surfing and surf fishing. The park includes the jagged pinnacles of the Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area. Carpool Locations:

1. OC Park and Ride: 1PM Suggested carpool meetup is at the Park-n-Ride in Orange off the 55N Lincoln/Nohl Ranch exit. Park-n-Ride entrance is on Tustin, across from Von's parking lot. Traveling NORTH on the 55, exit Lincoln Ave. West. Make 2 lefts, go under the freeway and take a left onto Tustin Ave. heading South. If you're traveling SOUTH on the 55, exit Lincoln and make a left on Tustin. The Park & Ride will be on your left hand side. You'll need to make a U-Turn to get to this side of the street

2. 2-2:30PM At State of California: Point Mugu State Park, 9000 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, Los Angeles, California 90265
