Meeting Point:
📍 St. Stephen’s Green North, Dublin
🕙 10:30 AM – Look for the group by the main park gates on the north side.
Transport:
We’ll catch the St. Kevin’s Bus directly to Glendalough. This scenic ride takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. Please bring your bus fare or have your ticket booked in advance.
Hike Overview:
The Spinc Ridge walk is a moderate–challenging trail with stunning views over Glendalough’s Upper Lake and the surrounding valleys. We’ll follow the White Route (boardwalk steps up to the ridge, across the Glenealo Valley, and down via the Miner’s Village). Expect about 9 km with steady climbs and some steep sections.
Estimated Timeline:
- 10:30 – Meet at St. Stephen’s Green North, Dublin
- 10:45 – Depart on bus
- 12:00 – Arrive Glendalough & quick briefing
- 12:15 – Start hike
- 17:00 – Back in the city
What to Bring:
- Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes
- Waterproof jacket & warm layers (weather can change fast)
- Packed lunch, snacks, and water (at least 1.5 L)
- Hat & gloves in case it’s windy on the ridge
- Small backpack
- Bring emergency SOS kit in case.
Notes:
- The trail includes a long wooden stair section at the start — take your time and enjoy the climb.
- Wild deer are sometimes seen in the valley; binoculars welcome!
