Commonwealth Lake
Details
Commonwealth lake is a narrow lake with with a flat paved 0.7 mile loop trail that encircles it. It has two advantages for casual bird photography: 1. the lake is fairly narrow, so birds in the water are not that far away, and 2, The birds there are quite used to people, so are not as shy as birds at other places.
We will take a slow stroll around the pond while photographing various birds. We may take an optional excursion through the flat grass field at the SW end of the lake if we spot an egret in the small body of water at the far end of that field.
We can expect to see Mallards with ducklings, Northern Shovelers, Canada Geese ( possibly with goslings), Red-Winged Blackbirds, quite a few songbirds, nutria in the pond/creek and in the grass, swallows flying around, usually a Great Blue Heron or two, and if we're lucky maybe a Green Heron, a Great Egret, a woodpecker or two, a Belted Kingfisher, and maybe even a Kestrel, Bald Eagle, or an Osprey.
Recommend bring your longest lens you are comfortable carrying around.
In the event of rain this event will be rescheduled.
