John Stott's study: Jesus Christ-Study 10, Head of the Church
We are nearing the end of our study, don't let that stop you from coming if you are just now discovering us, or just now have the time. You do not need the book to participate. We welcome you! And you can help us design what our next study might look like.
2 Timothy 1:8-14, 2:8-13
Intro by Stott
In all three pastoral letters, Paul's overriding preoccupation is the church. Christ died "to purify for himself a people." Consequently, Paul is concerned with the life of the local church and particularly with the church's responsibility to guard and teach the truth. The church is "the pillar and foundation of the truth" its foundation to hold it firm and its pillar to thrust it high.
