What we’re about

Hello everyone! This will be a book club dedicated to sharing, discussing and exploring hispanic literature, as well as connecting with other book lovers who are interested in this rich world of hispanic literature. The club is not intended to be a formal academic group, but a more relaxed environment for people to enjoy hispanic literature together.

I would like this to be a space for people who are interested in Hispanic Literature in general; so let's try to define that: literature (poetry, short stories, novels) written in Spanish or written in English by people who self-identify as Hispanic. In addition, this is not aimed to be a space for hispanic people only, but to anyone who's interested in our literary culture. This is a first idea of how I'd like to limit the scope of this group, but once I have an idea of how many people might be interested, I will work on refining our interests!

As of today (11/20/24), I want to invite people to join this group so I can reach out to potential members to gather opinions and make this an inclusive space to learn and enjoy hispanic literature. I would like to work on creating the identity of our group and have a first Book Club meeting in late January.

There is one thing I do want to be clear from the beginning: everyone is welcome, regardless of your ethnic background, nationality, US-residency status, native language, religion, sexual orientation, gender identification, political preferences, or any other sociodemographic factor. In addition, the sessions for this Book Club will be in English first and Spanish second, as I do want to invite potential non-Spanish-speaking members to share their literary experiences. We will find ways to maximize the enjoyment of those who are not bilingual (either only speak Spanish or English).

If you decide to join this club, please reach out to me and share your ideas!
