Historic Uniontown Walking Tour
Details
Uniontown was established in the 1880s by Finnish immigrants who came to the Pacific Northwest to work in the booming salmon fishing industry. Astoria had the largest Finnish population west of the Rocky Mountains and was known as the "Helsinki of the West". This commercial and nearby residential neighborhood remained mostly Finnish through the first half of the 20th century and retains some of its working-class vibe. We'll have a chance to view the interior of Soumi Hall where the Finnish Brotherhood/Sisterhood still meets.
This narrated walking tour covers about 6 blocks on mostly level hard surface and will run about 1 hour.
