Holy Hill as many know is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy faith or just beauty.

Holy Hill's history began in the 1800s with settlers and a hermit revering the site, which was formally named "Holy Hill" in 1863. The first chapel was built by the McKenna family, and the site grew into a major pilgrimage destination, leading to the construction of a series of shrines culminating in the current Basilica, completed in 1926. Today, it is one of Wisconsin's highest points and receives over 500,000 visitors annually, listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places.

The Basilica and National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Holy Hill invites the faithful to venerate the relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. The first-class relics from Lisieux, France, will arrive at Holy Hill on November 15 for four days of exposition in the Basilica.

Saturday November 15th: Relics Arrive

  • 1:00pm: Procession to Basilica
  • 2:00pm: Rite of the Arrival of the Relics
  • Veneration of the relics (time permitting)
  • 4:30pm Vigil Mass with Relics: Thérèse the Carmelite: Fr. Michael-Joseph Paris O.C.D.
  • 6:00pm – 9:30pm Public Veneration of Relics
  • 9:30pm Recitation of St. Thérèse Novena Prayer and simple procession of relics
  • 10:00pm Basilica Closes

We can stay together or tour on our own. I plan to attend the 4:30 mass and enjoy the relics. Holy Hill offers much beauty, a cafeteria, gift shop, and beautiful grounds to explore. We can tour the beautiful church and Stations of the Cross. I suggest car pooling if possible since it will be very busy with limited parking. I can have someone try to coordinate and meet with everyone around 12:30. I have a prior engagement so I might be a few minutes late depending on parking.

Pets I do not recommend as they are not allowed in the Shrine or any buildings.
