Historic Woodstock and Blenheim
Details
Jane writes: After a winter of inaction following surgery I am now fully recovered and am eager to start leading Heritage Walks once again.
You are warmly invited to join me on a walk round the historic town of Woodstock and the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace.
• Hear the story of the Medieval Royal Hunting Lodge where King Henry 2 kept his beloved mistress Rosalind Clifford.
• Discover the history of Blenheim Palace, built by the first Duke of Marlborough and his indomitable wife, Sarah Churchill.
• Learn how Blenheim influenced and shaped their famous descendant Winston Churchill who led Britain through World War 2.
• Explore the town’s interesting buildings including the Norman Church with its amazing musical clock, the Pest House, once a hospital for small pox patients, the old Glove Factory and the Ancient Mariner’s House.
It will be lovely to see friends old and new.
We will meet outside Woodstock Town Hall, High Street/Market Place OX20 1LS for a 2pm start.
