Astley Green Fete and Mining Museum
Astley Green Colliery Museum, M29 7JB, Manchester, GBStep back in time to a place where the industrial heritage of this great county is brought to life through fascinating exhibits, informative tours, and immersive experiences. See the mighty 3,300 hp twin tandem compound steam winding engine, the last surviving one in the whole Lancashire coalfield. Learn about the lives of the coal miners and their families throughout the decades of the mine's working life.
The Astley Green Fete is also on, where there will be steam engines, vintage buses and all sorts of fun stalls to check out. More information on the fete to come as the Facebook page is updated.
I’ll update this description with info about where we’ll meet. The museum doesn’t open until 1pm so we’ll likely look around the fete first and get something to eat, then tour the museum later.
The museum and fete are free to enter.
