Ulverston Dickensian Christmas Festival Market and Laurel and Hardy Museum

Details

The increasingly famous Ulverston Dickensian festival returns in the full style! There are multiple performance stages, roving street performers, hot mulled wine, a town-full of wonderful stalls, and costume parades through the historic streets.

Come along and get into the Christmas spirit. Dress up if you want to, and enjoy the amazing friendly atmosphere.

Performers include brass bands, singers, magicians, fire eaters, jugglers, stilt walkers, and a whole lot more. Almost all of the entertainment is provided absolutely free of charge.

We will also (hopefully!) visit the Laurel and hardy Museum. Starting life as one man’s collection stemming from his lifelong love of ‘the boys’, it grew over time until it took over the room, then the building! Now the museum taken pride of place in The Roxy, the town's 1930s period cinema and continues to develop as an ongoing celebration of one of the world's absolute best comedy duos.

(Just to warn you, as it's Winter the museum is not guaranteed to be open, so fingers crossed!)

We will meet at noon in the Food Court on Theatre Street ( https://www.dickensianfestival.co.uk/town-map ). If there's room and it's comfortable we'll eat there (so arrive hungry!) or if not, at a nearby cafe. Afterwards we will have a look around, shop, watch the performances and go to the Laurel and Hardy Museum. At 3pm we will watch the parade (and if you're brave enough to dress up in period costume, you can join it!)

The Dickensian Festival is free of charge. The laurel and Hardy Museum is £7.50 to enter. If you haven't paid for annual membership of this meetup group, please also give me a couple of quid on the day so i can afford to keep the group going. Thanks!
