The Heysham Power Station tour is back on, now at 1pm on Tuesday October 14th. unfortunately it has to be organised at short notice.

Go behind the scenes and see how nuclear power is harnessed to generate our electricity. We'll meet at the visitor centre which has an interactive exhibition to help visitors learn about nuclear power generation. Then trained station guides will take us on a tour of the huge building including the reactor viewing gallery, the turbine hall and the control room viewing gallery.

Tours take around 2 hours (but leave 3 hours just in case) and are free. They include a safety and security briefing and relevant Personal Protective equipment.

As you can imagine due to the security, there's a lot of conditions for attending this event. If you are pretty sure you can attend, please RSVP on this event AND send me a message via Meetup specifying:
- Your full name
- Your DOB
- Your home address
- The type of ID you can bring to the event to verify yourself (see below)
- Passport number / drivers license number

This is so I can fill out the application form.

RSVPs close after midnight Saturday 4th October.

Please note:

Two types of ID are allowed:
- Valid Passport (in date)
OR
- Valid Photographic driving Licence (in date) accompanied by a FULL birth certificate.

British nationals only. Unfortunately there's not enough time for them to sort out the documentation for non-British nationals before the event.

The tour involves numerous flights of stairs and the use of lifts.
Any visitors with a disability or medical condition affecting mobility or your ability to safely navigate a functioning nuclear power station, please contact the power station to get their guidance before RSVPing to this.

All visitors are required to wear suitable/comfortable footwear (no open toes) and please ensure legs are fully covered (no shorts).

They will provide PPE which includes long sleeved high vis jacket, hard hat helmet, ear defenders and light eye protection.

All visits are subject to last minute postponements/cancellations due to various safety considerations, which could include operational demands on site, adverse weather conditions, or security restrictions.
