Lightning talks
This month is lightning talks, 5 to 10 minutes on a Web topic of your choice. If you want to speak, either send us a message to book a space in advance or show up ready on the night, and we'll add you if there is time.
We have some suggested topics in case you wish to speak but don't have a topic. We only need 5 to 10 minutes, and these topics are easily researched.
- Text fragments
- Container queries
- Style queries
- Animate entry effects
- Houdini
- Lesser-known pseudo-classes: eg. :where(), :is(), :has(), :scope(), :in-range/:out-of-range, :current/:future, :user-invalid, :local-link, :placeholder-shown
- Lesser-known HTML elements: eg. mark, meter, progress, output, abbr, dfn, del, var, map/area, samp
- A feature you’ve used, how you’ve used it
- A framework you like
- Something cool you’ve made
- Your side-project
What to expect:
- Casual and friendly atmosphere: Mingle with fellow web enthusiasts, share ideas, and learn from each other's experiences. Occasional themed nights include lightning talks, pub quizzes, and board games.
- Open to all levels: Absolutely everyone is welcome, from experienced professionals to passionate hobbyists and curious beginners. There's no pressure to present or have all the answers – come ready to connect and be inspired!
- Inclusive discussions: We cover a wide range of web-related topics, including front-end development, back-end engineering, user experience (UX) design, accessibility, and the latest web trends. Even if it's Web-adjacent, we'll talk about it!
