This group is for anyone in Birmingham, AL and the surrounding areas who's looking to make new friends. Whether you’re new to the city, a bit introverted, or just looking for some fresh faces to hang out with—you’re in the right place. Everyone is welcome here, and we’re proud to be a no-hate community.

HLBF-BHM is more than just a social group—it’s a space where you can find people to show up for you. Making friends as an adult is hard, and I truly hope this group helps folks (especially the introverts, like me—ReBe!) step out of their shell and feel a little less alone.

Why I started HLBF-BHM:
I (ReBe) lived in Austin, Texas for about five years—nine hours away from my closest family. I was painfully shy and barely left my apartment outside of work. The Hey Let’s Be Friends – ATX group there became my lifeline. It gave me a reason to get out, connect, and meet people who eventually felt like family.

When I moved back to Birmingham in 2021, I found myself retreating into that same shy shell. I realized I couldn’t be the only one struggling to make friends or just needing a reason to leave the house. So I thought—why not create that kind of community here?
