Sunset hike - New Location! 3 mi RT 500ft Elevation

New Location! Flatter and longer than others. Likely be hiking out in the dark for the last 20 minutes so make sure to bring a light source.

We will meet at the Back Beach Park lot in Haskell, NJ (also listed as Wanaque, NJ)

We start promptly at 5:30pm (the setting sun will not wait for us). We will hike up for about a mile and a quarter to get to our final destination. There is a clearing and we can sit on the rocks or bring chairs and sit around a fire ring.

Please bring something to eat and drink if you wish.

We hope to get there with plenty of time to watch the sun's descent. Bring two sources of light - flashlight and/or headlamp in addition to your phone. Bring bug spray. Temperatures are forecast to be 70 degrees falling to 65 degrees when back at the cars. Please dress appropriately.

I will also ask everyone to have a tracker on their phone just in case they get separated. If you do not have one yet, I suggest Gaia GPS.

You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, and lights. You should review topographic maps and trail features carefully; understanding topography of any hike is key to your knowing where you are, where you're going, and how to get back.
