What we’re about
Do you enjoy a good wander through the forest, a meandering stroll along the coastline, or an occasional relaxed jaunt up a gentle hill to enjoy a beautiful vista? Are you also sometimes intimidated by more intense hiking groups and worry you won't keep up, either because you prefer a slower pace to enjoy the scenery along the way or to stop and have a little snack, or maybe just because you're more accustomed to less vigorous activities or have shorter legs than most? Do you identify with the quote, "not all those who wander are lost"?
Then Hobbit Hikers of Santa Cruz might just be the group for you. We're a group of wanderers and explorers who enjoy relaxed hikes around the Bay Area (centered around Santa Cruz County), sharing snacks and stories, and seeking treasures along the way. We strive to keep all hikes at an "easy-ish" level and keep a slower pace. We are also a queer-led group and hold inclusivity and equity as core values. Hobbits... ahem, I mean humans... of all races, gender expressions, sexualities, sizes, and physical abilities are welcome. If you know of local accessible trails, please feel free to suggest them!
