Details

This scenic trail runs essentially alongside the lovely winding Highland Creek, where the riverbanks are often bordered by large rocks and sandy areas. Along the way we’ll see views of the Highland Creek valley and naturally eroded cliffs. Starting from Old Kingston Road, we hike south along the Highland Creek Trail passing through Colonel Danforth and Lower Highland Creek Parks, then onto the bluffs for a stunning view of Lake Ontario. If the water level permits, we will make our way to the base of the bluffs, find a nice spot and have lunch.

The Scarborough Bluffs is an escarpment that rises 90 metres (at its highest point) above the coastline and spans a length of 15 kilometres. To avoid personal injury or death, please do not venture beyond the fences and posted warning signs.

This hike is rated intermediate and is about 15km long. Expect paved trails and some grassy areas, the terrain is relatively flat with a few climbs and descents. If luck is on our side, we may spot wildlife like a white-tailed deer or red fox.

Membership Fee
Members are required to pay an annual fee of $8.00 for the period from January to December, which is used to cover the cost of Meetup’s yearly subscription. Each member may invite up to two guests to each event at no additional charge. The membership fee policy began on January 1, 2025.
New members can attend their first event for free before opting for an annual membership.
Current members are required to submit their payment at the time of RSVP, rather than in advance. When they RSVP for an event, their names will be added to the waitlist automatically. Fees are payable only when you are on the waitlist.
Please e-Transfer to dierw@rogers.com and be sure to put your name to clearly identify who sent it. After the e-Transfer is completed, your name will be added to the going list. All fees are non-refundable.
