GROUP INFORMATION:

Entry fee is $5. At the end of the tournament, cash prizes will be awarded to the players, including a "Losers Refund" to the player with the lowest score.

Scoring -- Each euchre player will be provided a score sheet and assigned to a table. Each player will score with a partner each of 5 games (8 hands to a game with each player dealing twice), and scores are kept individually by each player on their scoresheet.

Rotating Partners -- At the end of each game, partners change with the losers moving onto the next table. Partners then have new partners with each game. However, if your partner is the "Ghost" at the Ghost Table (see below), you stay at that table for one more game, whether you win or lose; and you play with a partner on the next game, and a different player has the ghost as their partner.

Dealing -- To determine who is the first dealer, a player flips over a card to each player until the first black Jack is dealt. Cutting the deck prior to dealing is an option, but it's best to ask the player to the right of you if they prefer to cut the deck or not.

The "kitty" -- No player shall see the cards within the kitty (remaining cards not dealt to players) while the game is in session. If any player sees the cards within the kitty during the game, the hand must be re-dealt with the same dealer. This includes when someone goes alone, it is unacceptable to look at the kitty. No exceptions.

Table Talking -- While playing, please pay attention to what cards are being played. With the exception of 'newcomers' who are learning the rules, we ask that there be no table talking. Once you're an established player, and are aware of the rules, please do not table talk... this includes telling your partner which card you played, or if your card is trump; however, you can say which suit was lead.

Majority Rule -- As a group, we have specific Euchre rules, and they are listed below. In order to keep consistency with every player, it is encouraged the game rules be followed. However, we have a 'majority rules' policy. If a player claims another player broke the game rules, other players at the table can determine whether to enforce the rule, or disregard it.
EUCHRE RULES --

The following rules are for the purpose of continuity with all players. It is encouraged regular members inform new members of our game rules; and once the rule has been explained and understood by a new member, the rule should be enforced.

NUMBER ONE RULE -- have FUN !! This rule supersedes all other rules.

**These are the only rules that can be applied, and no other player may impose their rules of the game.

We play standard Euchre and trick bidding to include "stick the dealer."

"No Ace and No Face" -- Any player who was dealt a hand that does not include an Ace card or a face card, they may request the hand be re-dealt using the same dealer.

Ghost Table -- If the number of players dictates the use of a Ghost Player (meaning a table has 3 players), the Ghost Player's partner get a minimum of 7 points (they can earn more, but at least get the 7).

Sitting Out -- If the number of players dictates that players must "sit out" (meaning a table has 1-2 players) those sitting out will be given 7 points for that round. Who sits out will be determined by players who did not RSVP and/or who shows up last to the event. For instance, if only 9 players show up, the 9th player who did not RSVP or arrived last, will sit out the first round; the 8th player who arrived late will sit out the second round, and so on.

Being "Euchred" -- If a team calls trump and they are unable to acquire a minimum of 3 tricks, they are considered "Euchred" and receive zero points with the opposing team receiving 2 points.
Renege -- A card laid is a card played. If you do not follow suit, or trump it’s a renege..... Everyone is considered an honest player, however, the "Renege" rule ensures trust within the group. Again, there are exceptions to this rule for newcomers; however, if any player questions a renege, a table's "majority rule”.
Loner -- A loner is called when a player believes they can take all tricks and their partner sits out. The Loner must be called BEFORE the first player lays down a card, which starts the game. You cannot call a Loner once the game has begun. If the player calling the loner wins all tricks, that team receives 4 points; if they do not win all the tricks, that team receives 1 point. If the Loner is "Euchred" the opposing team wins 2 points.

Tied Score -- At the end of the game, if the score is "tied," one more hand is played to determine the winner. The tie breaking point(s) is/are not added to the total score.
