The Reiki 1 course introduces you to the basic principles of this method, so that you can start working with the universal Reiki energy yourself.

### What is Reiki?

Reiki is an alternative healing method that utilizes the energy we all possess within our bodies. Other terms for this life energy are prana and chi or ki. This energy flows through channels called meridians. When the meridians are open, the energy can flow from the hands. Reiki works on this principle.
During a Reiki treatment, someone, the "giver," passes the energy on to the recipient. The giver serves only as a channel, a "conduit." Therefore, the giver does not pass on their own energy to the recipient. Reiki is a form of direct energy transfer to yourself and to others (because both are equally simple).

A Reiki treatment makes extra energy available to the body and removes blockages, so that the body can start the recovery process with that extra energy and the life energy can flow freely again.
The giver cannot influence the outcome of the treatment; the recipient's body and energy system regulate everything themselves. Therefore, a diagnosis is not necessary for a Reiki treatment. This is a good thing, as only a physician is qualified to perform such a treatment. Reiki also works on an emotional and spiritual level. This makes Reiki suitable for headaches and tension, as well as for colds and depression.
