More about Ayurveda
Ayurveda (Ayu = life and Veda = science, or the “science of life”) is a root-cause oriented medicine that stems from the Vedas, the Indian subcontinent's ancient holy texts written thousands of years ago. Ayurveda is known in the west for the three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, which everyone has in different proportions. In Sanskrit, the dosha balance we are born with is called Prakriti (Pra = original; kruti = creation). Our present-state imbalance is called Vikruti (vi = after). Addressing both is paramount to well being.
According to Ayurveda, some of the primary causes of imbalances are low agni, or digestive fire, and consuming foods imbalanced to our constitution. Other common factors are stress, self criticism, living out of balance with circadian rhythms, and consuming foods or making lifestyle choices that are good for some, but not for everyone.
Ayurvedic consultations address diet, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, habits, spiritual practices, relationships, and much more. It's my job to find and address the root cause vitiating the well being that is our birthright. Patients are also assessed through the modern lens of "biohacking," the art and science of supplementation, labs, EMF mitigation, and other tools and resources that didn't exist when the Ayurvedic texts were codified.
