Giant Stairs Hike with Pure Bliss Yoga

Details

Join us for a mindful hike in the nearby Palisades Interstate Park. We'll meet at the State Line Lookout, which is the exit just after Exit 2 off the Palisades Parkway North. The hike is super fun, but challenging, and it involves about a mile of rock scrambles over some giant boulders. The views are breathtaking -- the river, the rocks, the sun peeking through the foliage, shimmering waterfalls and wooden bridges along our way! Exciting, challenging and blissful - a combination only Mother Nature can provide!

The total length is about 4-5 miles. It will last between 3.5 and 5 hours, depending on how fast we go and how often we break. We usually take our time and rest assured, no one will be left behind. Bring snacks and lots of water (about 2 liters per person). Hiking shoes or "5-toe"-style shoes highly recommended. Traditional running -type sneakers discouraged (you need lateral support and proper weight distribution; even tennis shoes or canvas sneakers will do better than the running sneaks).

Kids 9 and older permitted with parent. We strongly advise against bringing your dog, even though dogs on leash are allowed in the area. Most dogs need to be carried over the boulders, and like we said, you may need your hands to stabilize yourself here and there, and that part of the path is about a mile.

Estimated Hike Time: 3.5-5 hours. We should be done by about 6-6:30 pm. We probably will go to eat somewhere after and everyone is invited to join along.
Difficulty: Fit Beginners to Advanced; Rocky terrain, scrambling, steep ascents and descents with a total of approx 700' elevation gain

Cancellation Policy: Subject to cancellation up to 24 hours in advance OR for inclement weather.

What to bring:
• Water (1-2 liters)(A MUST), light lunch, snacks
• Shoes with good grip, such as Vibram soles
• A Small Pack - nothing too large that will become a hindrance in the scrambles
• Related maps, a compass or GPS, if you like to geek out :)
• First Aid (such as band-aids)/any medicines you need
• Tick /bug repellent spray; Also light colored long pants work well as tick and poison ivy protection
• Sunblock
• Phone/Camera.
