SAVE THE DATE - Visit St. Thomas Coptic Church of HK - 科普特正教香港分會

One of the many things that I've learned over the past several years organizing Hong Kong Sacred Spaces is that Hong Kong is one of the MOST religiously / spiritually diverse places in the world. Hong Kong is home to a myriad of Daoists temples, Buddhist schools, Muslim mosques, Hindu mandirs, Sikh gurdwaras, and yes dozen of Christian churches. Most serve small and unique communities and are spread around Hong Kong in unexpected places but that does not make them any less important.

The Coptic Church is one of the oldest Christian formations in the world originating from Egypt in North Africa and founded by St. Mark, an original apostle. I was not surprised to see that there is a Coptic community in Hong Kong and I was excited to be invited for a tour and talk of their local community center and church.

Save the date to enjoy a couple of hour at their Kung Tong church. They'll be a talk, a short prayer service, and perhaps some Egyptian snacks when we're done. I'll pass on as much information as I can over the next week of so but in the meantime kindly signup so I can get a sense of how many of you might be interested in this event.

PS. It's been a while since we've visited a church like this so I'll remind everyone of our policy in these situations. I've told the pastor of the church that we are NOT a religious organization therefore I have asked him to tailor his talk accordingly. Respect of course is a two-way street so any counter-evangelizing or bullying during the talk in any way will NOT be tolerated and will automatically revoke your membership in the HK Sacred Spaces community. Having said that, I can't think of a better to learn about North African culture in a genuine environment so your participation is important and I look forward to seeing you.
