Cardrona & Treblecone, via Wanaka and Queenstown

Details
Last minute trip to New Zealand. Currently there are 3 of us going, so have space in the car for 1 person or possibly 2.
After that we would need some one who is willing to drive and has an international license. Experience driving on snow would be ideal, but I can provide some assistance with technique and snow chains. Yes it’s an adventure!
Now for the fun part: we will visit Cardrona to ride chairlifts above the pro snowpack jibline and watch international stars strut their stuff.
Then if weather is good we will challenge ourselves at my favourite resort Treblecone, though there are some nice secret spots on the mountain I can share which doesn’t need much experience to be able to access and is very photo worthy!
Hopefully we can fit in a trip to Lake Ohau and their Skifield for a very amazing view if the weather allows. It has an amazing microclimate and often collects snow when others are dry.
The great things about New Zealand:
- The atmosphere
- The scenery
- The people
- The nature
- The wildlife
Vibe of this trip:
- Think of going away to unknown place, but one person knows the place pretty well and is prepared to help organise, and can also show you one cool thing everyday
- Be a local and stay relaxed and chill, no set schedule for the day, just drive up to the resort together, do a few warmup laps together and then as much as you like or just sit in the cafe and watch the international pro's spin metres out of the super halfpipe! Then drive back down into town at an agreed time. This is not an organised tour and I am not a travel agent or tour guide on this trip, we are just a few adults coming together to share some memories in one of the most beautiful places to snowboard I have ever experienced.
What we are going to do:
- Sightsee and soak in the locals spots, a bit of road tripping, enjoy a few laps of the Cardrona and Treblecone resorts, maybe a few vineyards, and hopefully hit some snowfall!
- (optional - visit a true kiwi ski/snowboard experience - see other event)
So the season started pretty slow, but in the last week powder has descended upon NZ ski fields and I'm seeing plenty of photos from others showing the conditions. A local once told me a trick to know when the snow is coming, and it has a fairly good success rate over the 15 years I've been coming back to NZ.
How are we going to do it:
Planning to rent a car, so have space for one maybe two more. Otherwise we will need to organise other drivers with international license and share car rental costs.
On the daily, myself and any other designated drivers can give a ride up and down the mountain, we will share petrol and car rental costs.
Accommodation: There are a few places, but there is a very beautiful
hostel which I would highly recommend, otherwise I can assist in giving recommendations of where to stay in Wanaka. If there are enough of us, I can find us a house to use as a base.
All in all a fairly customisable options depending on group consensus.
If this sounds interesting to you, I'll see you in the event chat and we can discuss what everyones requirements are.
Flights are only 7300-9000 for 2 people flying with Qantas offering the best prices right now with change of plane in Sydney or Melbourne
