Beginners Spanish Class (A1): Introduction

Details
Hello everyone! Welcome to the Hong Kong Spanish Meetup Group! :D
My name is Agustin, and I’m a Spanish teacher based in Hong Kong. I created this group to share and organize events centered around the Spanish language. It’s aimed at anyone who wants to learn Spanish and is interested in the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. Everyone is welcome!
A while back, I hosted an event during the Spanish election season to discuss Spanish politics. This time, I’d like to invite the community to join me in learning Spanish together. I’ll be offering beginner-friendly Spanish classes, and no prior knowledge of the language is required—these classes are designed for absolute beginners. The first few sessions are free, and if there’s enough interest, we can explore continuing with private lessons.
Below, I’ve outlined how the class will run, along with some basic guidelines and recommendations for those who’d like to join. If you’re interested in attending, please register and send me a private message. I’ll then share the Zoom meeting link with you.
### Class Structure:
- Introduction (10 min):
I’ll start by introducing myself and welcoming everyone. Participants will then have a chance to introduce themselves and share why they want to learn Spanish. - Main Lesson (50 min):
I’ll introduce the book we’ll be using by sharing my screen and diving into the day’s topic. - Cultural Insights (20 min):
I’ll share some cultural notes about Spain and Latin America, covering topics like history, geography, society, art, and more. - Wrap-Up (10 min):
We’ll end the class with a Q&A session, followed by optional homework and additional resources for practice.
### Guidelines:
- Camera On:
Participants are asked to keep their cameras on and show their faces during the class. This helps create a more personal and engaging online environment. If someone is unable to do so, they’ll be asked to leave the session. This ensures respect for everyone who is participating visibly. - Punctuality:
Latecomers (more than 10 minutes after the class starts) will not be admitted. - Cancellations:
If you register but can’t attend, please let me know at least one or two days in advance so others on the waiting list can join. - Materials:
Bring a notebook and at least two pens of different colors—they’ll come in handy during class. If you prefer using a word processor like Word, make sure to use the same document for all sessions.
### What to Expect:
The goal is for everyone to feel engaged and actively participate in the class. This not only helps students feel more involved but also allows me, as the teacher, to communicate as clearly as possible. It’s a fun and enriching experience for everyone!
### How to Join:
After registering, please send me a private message to confirm your attendance. I’ll then share the Zoom link with you ahead of the class.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via private message (through Meetup or at my email: [aguprofedespanol@gmail.com](https://mailto:aguprofedespanol@gmail.com/) ).
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
