The Honolulu Recovering From Religion support group meets in person once per month.

Getting here - we are meeting in an event space in the A'Ali'i condo building. The building address is 987 Queen Street. Guest parking is available on the ground floor of the building. We will meet in the lobby and head up to the event space together. If you have any issues finding the space please contact Jon through meetup DM.

NOTE: I will start meeting people in the lobby at 6:30 but please arrive no later than 7:00 as a courtesy to the other attendees. Late attendees may not be admitted.

Agenda:

  • Opening announcements
  • Everyone introduces themselves briefly. (You do not have to give a real name)
  • General discussion on topics related to religious recovery, doubt, or non-belief. No preaching or proselytizing allowed.
  • Closing announcements including information and resources of interest

The primary focus of a Recovering From Religion support group is to provide ongoing and personal support to individuals as they let go of their religious beliefs. This transitional period is an ongoing process that can result in a range of emotions, as well as a ripple effect of consequences throughout an individual’s life. As such, the support meetings are safe and anonymous places to express these doubts, fears, and experiences without biased feedback or proselytizing.

We are here to help each other through this journey.

There is no cost to attend this support group but, if you feel so inclined, donations can be made at www.recoveringfromreligion.org/donate

RfR has an immense collection of well-curated resources available as you go through your journey. The page includes resources for mental and physical crises, working with relationships, for issues stemming from specific religions, coming out stories, and much more. Head to www.recoveringfromreligion.org/resources for these helpful resources.

If you find you need to talk with someone before the meeting date, RfR has a hotline and online chat for that express purpose. Call (844) 368-2848 to speak with someone or go to www.recoveringfromreligion.org to chat online.

If you are in need of professional help, we can offer the Secular Therapy Project to provide options to connect with a professional therapist. All therapists have been thoroughly vetted by our organization and offer only evidence-based and non-religious treatment. Connect with them at www.seculartherapy.org.

Like what RfR does? Why not volunteer! There are quite a few options. Head over to www.recoveringfromreligion.org/volunteer for more info.
