What we’re about
If you’ve been in book clubs you know how stressful and maddening they can be. People don’t read. Or they don’t read well. Or you hurry to get the reading done and don’t get to enjoy the book. Or someone always picks that super-long book about the economic history of some country you’ve never heard of.
Silent book clubs take this bother away: just show up, say hi (or not!), have a drink (or not!), and read whatever you brought!
Reading alone, together.

Fort Ruger Park ("Triangle Park") is bordered by Kahala Ave, Diamond Head Rd., and Paikau St. in the shadow of Diamond Head. There is free street parking on each of these streets. There is no restroom, but there are public park restrooms at Kilauea Park on 22nd Ave. and Kapiolani Community College Farmers Market, each about 5 minutes away.
The Dos Jefes taco truck will be there, but you can also just bring your own snacks and drinks. Bring a towel, blanket, or chair. Bring sunscreen if you wish. And bring something to read!
Baron is your host! Look for him beneath the park trees near the intersection of Paikau St and Kaimanahila St. He'll have a blue picnic blanket spread out.

We are celebrating the holidays with a readup at The Boba Room in the Waipahu Shopping Plaza, the same plaza as Savers and Max's of Manila. 94-300 Farrington Hwy, #G-15.
This isn't a full-on potluck, but we'll share some treats and snacks if you can bring some. Bring a wrapped (or gift-bagged) white elephant book for the grab bag activity. Order some yummy drinks if you can!
6:00. Say hi, have a snack, order a drink (if you can!).
6:15. White elephant grab bag game.
6:45. Read! Bring whatever you want!
7:30. Call it a night, stick around and chat, or keep reading.
The Boba Room closes at 8:00!
Text Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you'd like a ride home.
- Also, please let me know if you're willing to give a ride home. I'd like to make sure everyone's taken care of if my car's full. Thank you!
- I would love for someone else to plan and run the white elephant grab bag activity. Please let me know if you're willing, and we'll work something out!
