We are humbled to support Read to Me International with some silent (or not-so-silent?) reading time at Honolulu Beerworks in Kalihi!

Read to Me International is the local nonprofit who promotes reading aloud to children, with courses for parents and read-aloud events for families right in their communities -- at malls, in restaurants, in classrooms, and (in this case) in breweries!

The read-aloud stuff starts at noon with board books for children and their parents. At 1:30, it's more reading aloud with picture books.

At 3:00, the grownups get a solid hour with their own books. Order a freshly poured beer brewed right on the premises or one of Honolulu Beerworks's special cocktails. Packaged local snacks are also available.

Then read silently if you can resist the place's social vibes. No judgment either way! Physical books, e-books, comic books, textbooks, how-to books, audiobooks, or whatever! Just bring something to get lost in!

Come for just the silent reading, or come for the read-aloud activities, but registration for each activity is required in advance!

Mitchell, your host for the Silent Book Club session, will be there early if you'd like to get a head start, and will stay until 4:30 if you'd like to chat for a while after.

Honolulu Beerworks is offering an opportunity to round your purchases up as a donation to our friends at Read to Me International, at this activity and through November! Good drinks, good reads, good company, and a good cause. Sounds like a good Saturday afternoon!

Honolulu Beerworks is in the same building as Lion Coffee at 1632 Hart St.
