About us
HOPE YOGA is held at the home of the Helping Omaha People Eat (H.O.P.E.) Garden and class happens inside THE SANCTUARY of Faithful Shepherd Presbyterian Church. The garden is outside behind the building.
The food from H.O.P.E. Garden is donated to Heartland Hope. The garden is managed by volunteers of The Nebraska Extension Office's Master Gardener Program, and the church covers the water bill for this vegetable garden that feeds many members of Omaha's Community. 🌱
My name is Jai. I'm the yoga teacher, one of the master gardeners, and an animal rights activist. This is a non-religious class, meaning we don't debate or discuss personal beliefs DURING class, which is strictly a time for health and well-being, but we CAN absolutely have friendly communication on a wide variety of topics—including religion—after class over coffee (agave nectar and oatmilk provided). We just ask to keep the discussion kind, as well as respectful of the space we are in.
If you want to stick around for longer after the yoga practice, we prepare and serve a vegan breakfast to share together!
Before coming to class, be sure you've RSVP'd and read the event description. I require attendee's phones to be off during class. Recording audio and visual, as well as general phone use, is not permitted during our peaceful practice time. If you have any questions, please message me.
ABOUT THE YOGA: It begins with 30 minutes of light movement practices followed by a guided relaxation with the sound waves of crystal singing bowls. Our practice ends—in a comfortable seated position—with a few minutes of silent meditation. The complete practice lasts approximately 1 hour.
✨DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS APPRECIATED,✨ AND NEVER EXPECTED.
If it is ever on your heart🫀to donate, you can:
• Talk to Pastor Nick (he is almost always in his office on Friday mornings) about donating to the church to help with the water bill and their other charitable efforts.
• Ask to be given the information to donate to the Extension Master Gardener Program that organizes the volunteer work happening in the H.O.P.E. Garden!
• Help me with the vegan offerings by using the Fundraiser here in this Meetup group, found by scrolling all the way to the bottom of this page.
• I'll let you know of a few great options (Conscious Comforts, Veg.Edible, etc) that we have for buying vegan🍩pastries—if you want to pickup before class to share with us after it.
You have plenty of options to choose from if your heart desires to give.
