Hopeful Book Club - Welcome session
Details
### Beat the Sunday blues and join our new monthly online hopeful book club!
We’ll be discussing books that give you hope, but that don’t necessarily shy away from the difficult things. This won't be about reading books that ignore everything we worry about, or give us only a rose-tinted view, but about reading those works which show us some light in the dark, that highlight a sense of awe and wonder at our world and the human beings in it. And most importantly, they’ll be great literature!
We’ll recommend a monthly read, and then we’ll get together on the last Sunday of the month, 5-6pm, just as the ‘dark teatime of the soul’ sets in. Bring a cuppa, share your feelings on the book and maybe recommendations for other ways to stay hopeful and positive. Occasionally we’ll invite guest speakers and writers, and most of all, we’ll build a community of hope.
Our first book will be the Booker-prize winning Orbital by Samantha Harvey, which you can read more about here:https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/454068/orbital-by-harvey-samantha/9781529922936
