My friend Ben Siems (the leader of the Willie August Project)
is playing a VERY RARE gig at the famous Driftwood Char Bar,
and YOU WANT TO GO.....!

Here's why:
Ben Siems is possibly the most talented guitarist in the twin cities area that you've never heard of.
I first heard him ten years age at a tiny west bank bar playing avant-garde jazz so sublime that I bought the CD. Next gig featured blues, .... and I bought the CD. Eventually he released a classical themed CD, .... and I had all dozen or more of his CDs, after I bought that CD. Many gigs later I hired him for one of my birthday partys.
No CD, just great memories! Then along came Covid, nobody was going out to hear music, so Ben wrote a whole CD worth of classical 3-piece string trio music in the downtime. By now, as his #1 fan, I funded and produced that as his latest CD. Yeah, I bought it.
LOL!

All this is to say:
I like all types of music as long as it's good, and Ben is up there with our local greats: Cornbread Harris, Chris Osgood, Dakota Dave Hull, Leo Kottke, whoever you name .... Ben and the Willie August Project can equal them in quality! Only difference: name recognition. Ben and the group don't play in public that much. The music is esoteric, hard to pigeon hole, certainly for active listeners!

OK! Here are some details:
The Driftwood Char Bar is a neighborhood favorite for music-lovers in south Minneapolis. You've probably been there. It's a bit of a dive like the Schooner, but this show will be better than usual for the venue. Late showtime: 9pm to 1030pm on a Thursday night. Ben thinks there will be a small cover charge. ($5-$7 bucks?)
A tip jar is available!
CDs will be for sale. (Of course!)
I will be there for sure, and so should you!
