Here it is !! Please read & copy the Itinerary . Its a fast moving super fun & cool Food, Photo, Historical, & hidden Nature locations. Look at the 6 posted photos below.
***WE meet @ the Petaluma Library Fairgrounds lot .(in front of the Library by the big tree & small parking lot exit) WE will carpool from here.
***1. Heading on very scenic back country roads to towards the Tomales Bay & Dillon beach coastal areas. THE DILLON MYSTERY BOULDERS, CAVES, & SLOT TRAIL CLIMBING . Great for photos ! An awesome hidden in plain sight high ocean view Natural creation
***2. Leaving here we ride a short distance to the not to be missed Wild Flour Bread Co. & its lush gardens as we will sample their amazing 22 varieties of yummy creations. We will have our wine picnic here also.
***3. Then on to the Main attraction: The historical early 1900's Steam powered Saw Mill (Restored & in operation) . So much to see , it will make your head spin. The beautiful Shires log pulling work horses demos. The super green spring fed fern & redwood walking trails. It;s an ongoing "Working Museum". Docents are ready to show us around & take us thru the various steam powered logging equipment in action. Blacksmithing, historical vehicles, An outdoor cafe under the redwoods, and a 15 piece country Hawaiian musical instrument program. This is a visit to be remembered. Photos are a must here. This Mill Restoration project is only open 4 weekends a year. Only one left in Oct.
***4. Aw shucks we have to leave by 3:pm as they close too early. WE head back to Occidental & go into a forest of ancient Redwoods for an easy walk to find where the little Brown Bat colony hides & sleeps during the daylight hours. If they are home , we can quietly view & photograph them. (Silence is a must here) This forest has many huge & unique trees & we will also stop to view the hidden Buddha carved from a redwood tree . OH.oh. Its now about 4;45 & another crappy day in paradise is about to come to an end. ***But wait ! Our after event dinner option still awaits us. If some wish; we can stop in the cute & quaint town in Occidental at the historic Union hotel for some yummy old style delicious Italian food. I'm good friends with the owner & if we dine there , the service is great & free Bruchetta on wooden platters are all ours .
Have you read all this ? OK. Bring a jacket & hiking shoes. I'll have my usual food & drinks & vino in my car for all. Its a "Mini " Trunk Buffet.
