Welcome to Houdini Battle, where 4 players compete live and show off their talent. Each battle’s theme will remain secret until we start, then each player will have 45 minutes to create a work of art. You as our audience will choose the winner at the end. Join us! The battle portion will take place on a multitwitch web browser:

You will be able to zoom in and out of each screen by pressing the f key, or you can watch the event in quad view
The commentators and host will be on the discord Houdini Battle 6/17 voice channel.
Please chat in the battle-chat-06-17 text channel during the battle.
Please vote for your favorites in the poll-06-17 channel, feel free to vote for more than one and at any time during battle. There will be giveaways for the audience and the winner.
The Players
Peter Claes
Peter Claes is the current champion of Houdini Battle, will he win again? He is currently an Expert Technical Artist at Infinity Ward. Previously he led the Mill’s FX Team on various spots including multiple seasons for Superbowl commercials. Peter’s impressive credits include some of the biggest blockbuster feature films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Ant-Man, Captain American: Civil War, Cloud Atlas.
Jake Rice
Jake is an FX Lead at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He is primarily focused on effects and tool development. His previous studio experience includes names like Buck LA, ManvsMachine, and Timber. He has also created work for clients like Apple, Google, FX Networks, and many more.
Luiz Kruel
Luiz is a Senior Technical Artist at SideFX. Previously he has worked at EA Tiburon on Madden and NCAA Football, Sony Online Entertainment on DC Universe Online, Avalanche Studios on Just Cause 3, and Certain Affinity on Doom. His specialties include shaders, scripting, MEL, python, and rigging.
Max Moseley
Max is an FX artist who has worked at Blizzard and The Mill, he loves to create wonder and amazement through the efforts of CG. He enjoys innovating in the field of FX using volumes, destruction, and fantastical FX.

Remi Pierre
Remi is a Houdini Pipeline TD at Digital Domain Vancouver with over 10 years of industry experience.
Justin Dykhouse
Justin studied film at Columbia College Chicago. He works as a Houdini Generalist at MAGNOPUS in LA and co-organizes the LA-HUG.
Your Host
Debra Isaac
Debra is a creative director, Houdini artist, and founder of Houdini.School (launching this summer). She loves community building and co-organizes The Los Angeles Houdini User group (LAHUG). She currently teaches Houdini at Drexel University. She is passionate about scientific visualization, motion graphics, and emerging technologies. Her clients have included Intel, Mattel, Hasbro, and The UCLA Art|Sci Center.
