Welcome to Houdini Battle, where 4 players compete live and show off their talent. Each battle’s theme will remain secret until we start, then each player will have 1 hour to create a work of art. You as our audience will choose the winner at the end. Join us!

Thomas “waffleboytom” Goffelli
Thomas Goffelli is a Professional Houdini Enjoyer at Sidefx, known as El Bulshitto Fixador. Likes making music and writing spaghetti code. The man behind the beloved legendary chromatic aberration node and many more! Looks like Tin Tin tho.
Dima “Unoptimized” Vlasenko
Dima Vlasenko has been a marketing Intern at SideFX for the past 6 months. Aside from making horrible node networks, he enjoys the simple things in life: rocks, trees, juice and unicolor shirts.
Michael “VK” Buckley
Michael Buckley was a developer on the modeling team at SideFX. When Michael writes code, his font size is 2 pixels because he’s got the eyes of a hawk. Mike uses Arch btw.
Richard “how do you spell that?” Laszcz
Richard Laszcz was a marketing intern at SideFX eons ago. He has gone on to work at MPC and Dneg among others. When Richard isn’t doing fx work in Houdini, he likes to play the guitar very loudly for his neighbors.
The Commentators

Armin Lotfi
Armin Lotfi is a self-taught 3D Visual Artist and Motion Designer. His educational background in architecture, experience in photography, and graphic design have granted him a better understanding of the 3D world. Throughout the years, he has developed a workflow between different software packages such as Houdini FX, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, Nuke, After Effects, and Photoshop.
Christopher Rutledge
Chris is a CG Artist / Filmmaker based in the USA who likes to make floppy characters. He has made a number of shorts and music videos that have screened at festivals, aired on Adult Swim, and received Vimeo Staff Picks. He has also worked as a freelancer in commercials. Since starting his career he has pivoted his software arsenal to be focused entirely around Houdini, for which he is a staunch advocate. You can find a number of tutorials on his YouTube and Gumroad pages, as well as linked on his useful free Houdini resources doc www.houdininerd.com.

Debra Isaac
Debra Isaac is a Visual Artist, Animator, and the Founder of Houdini.School and works at SideFX as their Community Mentor. She loves community building, and co-organizes The Los Angeles Houdini User group (LAHUG). She has over 10 years of experience teaching Houdini and currently teaches Houdini at Drexel University. She is passionate about scientific visualization, motion graphics, and emerging technologies.
