Come hiking in one of the prettiest parks around Houston and possibly check out some alligators! Brazos Bend State Park is just 45 mins. south of downtown Houston with more than 25 miles of walking trails to explore.
April is part of the alligator breeding season in TX, so the alligators should be out. Be sure you're ready to take some pictures!
This is an on-leash event. Strict park safety rules stipulate a 6' or shorter leash. NO EXTENDABLE LEASHES PLEASE!
RESERVE A DAY PASS ONLINE NOW!
Most state parks reach maximum capacity on the weekends. As this will be a beautiful weekend, PLEASE reserve your day pass online. If you do not and the park reaches capacity, you might be turned away at the gate.
NOTE THE MEETING/PARKING DETAILS OR TAKE A SCREENSHOT ON YOUR PHONE BEFORE ENTERING THE PARK. No cell towers in the park = spotty reception.
ADMISSION FEE: Day Use pass is $7.00/Adult; Children 12 and under are free. Reserve a day pass online to speed up entry and ensure you aren't turned away because they are at capacity!
PACE: Slow enough to take advantage of all the beautiful scenery and wildlife! Approx. 2.5 MPH
BRING FOR YOU: Mosquito spray/bug repellent, sun-block, some mosquito spray/bug repellent, a hat, some more mosquito spray/bug repellent, and sunglasses and/or whatever weather gear is appropriate. Water for you, your camera and some trail snacks (if you want). Only footprints should be left behind so have something for trash.
This park is a heavily wooded low watershed area next to the Brazos River. The rain last week likely contributed to a bumper crop of spring mosquitos. Come prepared.
BRING FOR YOUR DOG: Water (there is NO water on the trails), doggy snacks (if desired) and your dog’s 6 foot leash. A towel to wipe your dog down in case of mud. Consider which flea/tick repellent your dog is on; will it work on things like mosquitoes and chiggers? Think about spraying your dog with bug repellent, but consider any skin allergies before doing so. Please make sure your dog is protected from ticks.
PET RULES/PET ETIQUETTE WITHIN THE PARK: Pets must be on a 6 foot or shorter leash at all times. Bring water for your pet. NEVER allow your pet to drink from or enter the lakes. Do not throw objects for your pet to retrieve. Please pick up after your pet.
***If a park ranger notes anyone violating the safety rules for people or pets, they may be asked to leave.
