Step into the mesmerizing world of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra for their second concert of the 2025-2026 season!

This concert commences with Overture to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II, a lively, sparkling introduction that sets the tone for the concert. With its sweeping waltzes, vibrant orchestration, and infectious energy, it is a musical prelude full of charm and anticipation.

Prepare to be enchanted as soprano Hila Plitmann makes her debut with the Texas Medical Center Orchestra. Her performance of Brentano Lieder, Op. 68 by Richard Strauss promises to be a highlight of the evening. Hila’s exquisite voice will guide you through Strauss lush melodies and poetic storytelling.

To conclude this mesmerizing evening, the orchestra will perform Symphony No. 4 in G Major by Gustav Mahler, a lyrical and uplifting work, blending graceful orchestration with moments of light-heartedness and introspection. The symphony culminates in a celestial vocal finale, offering a serene vision of heavenly innocence and childlike joy.

Creativity, theatricality, and virtuosity have long defined the musical adventures of two-time Grammy Award-winning soprano, vocalist, and actress Hilá Plitmann. Widely recognized as one of today’s foremost interpreters of contemporary music, she regularly premieres new works by a diverse array of composers including Esa-Pekka Salonen, David Del Tredici, Frank Zappa, Aaron Jay Kernis, Thomas Adès, Jeff Beal, Xiaogang YE, Paola Prestini, Danaë Vlasse, and John Corigliano.

Hilá’s work is informed by her love of poetry, focus on discipline (she holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do), and engagement with nature. She hopes her artistic risk-taking emboldens audiences to expand their comfort zones.
