West Houston Silent Write-In

The Houston Early Career Faculty meet-up group has a simple, yet powerful agenda each meeting:

1. We briefly introduce ourselves, research interests, and any writing goal for the writing session.
2. We turn on a timer, write for 20 - 25 minutes and take a brief 5 - 10 break to discuss progress.
3. We repeat step 2 until the end of the meeting time (usually 4:30pm).

The agenda is intended to inspire and motivate writing by creating camaraderie and joy around the writing process. Additionally, meetings are inspired by the work of Peter Elbow and the Pomodoro Method - short, focused, writing sets where writing occurs for 4, 20-25 minute sets with brief check-ins between each set.
