Many of you in this group have asked for a lunch where true BEGINNER Spanish speakers can practice this skills. So, I'm adding a special "Beginner's Group" to this normal Spanish-speaking lunch that HILENM does in conjunction with another Meetup group at Empire Cafe 1-2 times a month.

**I WILL be there as the "teacher" so the beginners who want to attend** can sit with me at the end of the group table, or at an adjacent table. Message me if you need more reassurance or info about if you should attend this. :)

**HERE's the INFO about the event in general:**

Let’s get together for a different chatting at Empire Cafe. **This lunch will be for everyone in the group who knows some Spanish** \-\- either fluently or who wants to practice\. We've done happy hours with another Meetup group \-\- the Houston Heights Spanish Language Meetup group that is organized by one of our HILENM members\, Katy Green \-\- and it's been a lot of fun\. So we are joining them regularly for their lunch\-time Meetups\, too\.

The Houston Heights Spanish Language Meetup group usually meets at Empire every two weeks on Thursdays. The event starts at 11:30 am but you can come at 12 noon if that's better for your lunch break.

***Note:*** Because this is a joint event with the Houston Heights Spanish Language Meetup Group, there may be men and other “non-Moms” there. :) But Katy’s group is also limited to vaccinated people.

This event is open to anyone in our HILENM group, but ***I ask that you only attend if you genuinely want to practice speaking Spanish,*** because it ruins the group dynamics of the event otherwise. If you aren’t interested in speaking Spanish, we have lots of other day-time events you can attend. 👍🏻🍷

**Native and fluent speakers are very welcome to attend** — talking with you helps those of us trying to learn immensely. **And you are welcome to attend even if your Spanish level is basic**. We all get better at a second language the more we practice speaking and listening to it. Please feel free to message me with questions about the event if you are still unsure if you want to attend.

Empire is a favorite place of mine in Montrose because of its chill vibe and its great food and drinks. They have an their extensive lunch menu which features fresh and tasty food, including salads, sandwiches, pasta and featured entrees every day. And they have amazing homemade cakes if you want some dessert for lunch or to take home. :)

I also like Empire because it has nice covered outdoor seating so you can seat outside year-round comfortably. **Katy or I get there early to stake out an outdoor table (unless it’s really hot, and then we'll sit inside)**. So order your drinks or food at the counter and come find our table. They have a parking lot and lots of street parking nearby, so parking there is rarely an issue.
