After careful consideration, we have decided to move away from Meetup and give Bookclubs.com a try. Like Meetup, this new platform is free to join, but it was designed exclusively for groups like ours. It offers several cool features (including the ability to host polls without Google Forms), and it costs far less to host a club than Meetup (which currently costs minimum $300 a year).
We will maintain our presence on both platforms until 3/31, at which point we will close this group and operate exclusively through Bookclubs.

Like reading sci fi or fiction but hate watching your friends'/coworkers'/partner's eyes glaze over when you talk about it?

You've come to the right place, friend. This is a book club for those who read, are interested in reading, or are interested in getting interested in reading fantasy and sci-fi books.

Our selections are democratically chosen and run the gamut from contemporary authors like Naomi Novik and Patrick Rothfuss to veterans like Brandon Sanderson and Ursula LeGuin all the way to the golden era of Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury.

Speculative fiction, military sci-fi, high fantasy, paranormal, dystopia — prepare to bring your knowledge to bear as we discuss books and share recommendations for good reads.

Anyone of any age from anywhere can join as long as you're willing to share your thoughts.
