Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Workshop and “Sierra Social”
Hosted by Houston Sierra Club Outings
Details
For Sierra Club members, a free “Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Workshop” will be held on August 3, 2019, noon to 5 pm. The workshop is at “Pecore Hall”, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1805 West Alabama, Houston, Texas 77006. Registration begins at 11:30 am. A donation to pay for lunch and snacks is requested.
This workshop will teach you about the “Jemez Principles” and how equity, inclusion, and justice can be a part of all local Sierra Club activities. Equity creates an environment of equal access and opportunity for everyone; Justice commits to being just, even when it’s not easy; and Inclusion accepts and celebrates each person for who they are.
The Sierra Club created a Department of Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in 2016. This Department is changing the Sierra Club’s workplace culture; provides education, learning, training, and skills development; and integrates equity, inclusion, and justice into Sierra Club activities.
“After Workshop Sierra Social for Everyone!”
A “potluck” Sierra Social, open to everyone (members and non-members), will be held after the Equity workshop in “Pecore Hall” from 5 to 6:30 pm. Bring something tasty so we share and enjoy good food, conversation, and camaraderie.
