February 21 Program:
How to Take Good Environmental Photos
Peter Bowman, a local Bay Area Sierra Club member, will discuss how to take good environmental photos.
Peter Bowman’s photography bio:
I’ve been photographing since I was a teenager, and my uncle gave me his old camera when he got a new one. Of course, my photography has survived several generations of technology in my long life.
Now I shoot almost exclusively with my iPhone. In the old days I shot mainly on trips, but now I shoot all the time. Most of the photos you’ll see this evening were flower photos shot on a trip to the Butchart Gardens, which are just outside Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It’s a very famous garden!
What photographers have influenced me? Photographers and non-photographers alike admire Ansel Adams, but practically speaking, I tried to imitate nature photographers such as Elliott Porter and Clifford Grim.
