Hike in Big Creek Scenic Area
Details
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Houston Sierra Club will hike about 3-4 miles in Big Creek Scenic Area (BCSA), Sam Houston National Forest. For over 60 years BCSA has provided a scenic view of the Big Thicket. We will enjoy warm, late Spring weather. This will be a very leisurely paced hike focused on what can be seen in the forest.
Bring a day-pack, 3 qts of water, lunch, snacks, insect repellent, camera, field guides, and clothes for warm weather. Long pants are recommended due to insects/briars. This outing is limited to 15 people. No pets/firearms/radios. Cell phones will be turned off/placed on vibrate to enjoy solitude/quiet/natural sounds.
The link below has the Sierra Club participant sign-in agreement (liability waiver). Please read before the outing so you know what it says, we will sign-in quickly at BCSA, and then proceed with the hike. Sign-Up Sheet 2-2020.pdf (sierraclub.org)
