Smith Point/Anahuac Bird and Bay Trip

Details
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, 9:30 am, the Houston Sierra Club will meet at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Candy Abshier Wildlife Management Area (WMA) on Smith Point, Chambers County.
At the WMA we’ll visit a “Hawk Watch” observation platform to look for raptors and other birds. Later we’ll drive to Trinity Bay and look for shorebirds.
We’ll then drive to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge to eat our lunch, bird, and enjoy the natural scenery. If time permits, we’ll visit the Texas Chenier Plain Refuge Complex Office and enjoy a board walk through a cypress swamp on Lake Anahuac.
The link below has a participant sign-in agreement (liability waiver). Please read this before our outing so you know what it says, sign-in quickly at the WMA, and proceed with the outing.
