Along the Texas Gulf, nature and communities are facing increasing pressure from land degradation, water strain, air pollution, and the loss of vital wildlife habitat. In the Greater Houston region, these challenges are especially visible, even as the area remains a central part of America’s energy story. For generations, Houston has powered the nation through its ports, pipelines, refineries, and energy facilities, shaping local economies and providing jobs across Southeast Texas.

Today, as Texas continues to grow, our energy needs are rising quickly. Meeting that demand in a way that protects land, air, water, and wildlife is one of our biggest challenges. Wind and solar energy already play a major role in addressing that challenge, bringing cleaner air, lower water use, strong economic benefits, and increased grid reliability. With thoughtful siting and responsible development, clean energy can coexist with working lands and sensitive habitats throughout the Houston area.

The Houston Clean Energy and Community Benefits Forum will bring together conservation leaders, land stewards, wildlife experts, and clean energy practitioners for a grounded conversation about how Texas can meet its energy needs while protecting the places that matter most. The event will highlight real partnerships already underway, showcase examples of renewable projects designed to avoid and reduce impacts to wildlife and open space, and address common questions about development in the region. Together, we will explore solutions that safeguard Texas landscapes, support local economies, and keep our energy system strong and reliable as clean energy continues to grow.

The meeting will be at The United Way of Greater Houston.
