Groundwater Management in Texas

Join us for a discussion about groundwater in Texas with Vanessa Puig-Williams from Environmental Defense Fund!

Groundwater is water stored beneath the Earth's surface in soil, sand, and rock formations known as aquifers. It's a critical resource in Texas, supplying about 55–60% of the state’s water for irrigation, municipal use, and industry, while also supporting Texans' drinking water needs and flows in rivers and streams across the state. Growing demand, a changing climate, and the complexity of groundwater regulation in Texas are putting increasing pressure on this vital resource.
