October 19 Program: Environmental Issues & Role of the Federal Government
Jon Haire, a Bay Area resident and retired Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientist, will discuss some of the region's most significant environmental issues and the role that the federal government plays in addressing them.
Jon has a PhD in Nuclear Engineering, and has taught Physics in California and Nuclear Engineering at Geogia Tech in Atlanta, GA.
Jon was a Distinguished Nuclear Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for more than 33 years.
He has also been a consultant on risk assessments for DuPont deNemours, Inc., and United Technologies Corporation.
Jon obtained a patent on an ammonia (NH3) cracker designed for hydrogen production – a proponent of the hydrogen energy economy.
He has also published more than 200 scientific open literature publications.
Bay Area meetings are on 3rd Wednesday of the month and start at 6:30pm for social hour; speaker and discussion from 7-8:30 pm.
