Come and join us for a Big Data Science using Apache Spark workshop, the first of it’s kind in Houston. We will have Databricks, the creators and keepers of Spark give us a hands-on intro to Data Science and Spark. This will be a guided session, so bring your laptops with you. Also, please glance the preparation material section and make sure to account for it if you intend to participate in the workshop.
PRESENTER:
The session will be lead by Don Hilborn from Databricks.
Don is committed to being a lifelong learner leveraging collaborative problem solving and his diverse in-depth experience to successfully implement Big Data solutions that create sustainable value. Don has used his clear vision of Big Data's potential along with his analytical abilities and consistent execution to demonstrate the effectiveness of Big Data at creating sustainable value at Boeing, Arthur Andersen, Anadarko, McKesson, and Hortonworks. Don is versed in both the academia and application aspects of Big Data. He is a licensed attorney specializing in Information Assurance and Cyber-Security and an Adjunct Professor teaching courses that focus on the cross section of Big Data and the law. He is currently a Solutions Architect at Databricks the creators and keepers of Spark.
PREPARATION MATERIAL:
In order to participate in the workshop, you should obtain a copy of the Data Brick’s Community Edition. For the purpose of this workshop, the free edition will suffice. We will be covering the first part of BerkeleyX's CS110x! course (https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:BerkeleyX+CS110x+2T2016/courseware/d1f293d0cb53466dbb5c0cd81f55b45b/a8482182209e4148811ac58f68a6182f/)in the CE training folder.
LOCATION:
Microsoft Houston Offices @ 750 Town and Country Blvd (10th floor). Park on the 3rd and 4th floor of the parking garage at 12718 Queensbury Ln. Pizza will be provided.
