EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: This month's meetup WILL be held in the Nexus space at The Ion, after all. The location for future meetups is TBD.

Walkabout Mini Golf is one of the best social VR games of all time, and many meetup members play every new course Mighty Coconut releases for it. It's consistently ranked as one of the best rated and best selling VR titles globally, and its retention and session times are some of the best in the industry. So we're excited to announce that this month, we have David Wyatt, Head of Communications & Business Strategy at Mighty Coconut, out to talk about the game and answer your questions!

In addition to Walkabout Mini Golf, Mighty Coconut is the studio behind films such as Pigeon Impossible and The OceanMaker. David oversees brand, reputation, platform relationships, earned media, licensing, and partnerships. As the 9th person on the Walkabout team, he’s led the launch of 25 DLC courses, 3 platforms, soundtrack albums, 28 podcast episodes, and 10 licensing deals.

As always, we'll cover the latest AR and VR news, and get progress reports from members' XR works-in-progress. If you have things you'd like to present or review, reach out to us so we can get you on the schedule.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

We are now hosting the meetup in the Rice NEXUS space in The ION, next door to the Prototyping Lab where we've held it for the past couple of years.

We'll be bringing in an Arcade2TV-XR controller and demoing it with PinballFX VR, allowing attendees to experience the increased immersion it provides when playing pinball in VR.

Avie Magner, representing X-Arcade, will be talking about the company's upcoming plunger and haptics upgrade kit to make the Arcade2TV-XR controller even better for VR pinball, and answering your questions over a Zoom call.

At the end of the evening, X-Arcade will give away the Arcade2TV-XR controller and stand as a door-prize to one lucky attendee. So come in, test out the hardware, get your questions answered, and throw your name in the hat to go home with $500 worth of hardware!

As always, we'll cover AR and VR news and have members giving updates and demos of their XR works in progress. If you have things to share, please reach out to us so we can get you on the schedule!

Also: to align with increasing trends towards Augmented and Mixed Reality, we are in the process of rebranding from HoustonVR to HoustonXR. Stay tuned for more!

Guest speaker and topic for this month are TBD, but we will, as always, discuss the latest AR and VR news, and demo the latest hardware and software.
