Brief History of DEXes (Decentralized Exchanges)

Details

Hello Houstonians! Join us for our second Ethereum meetup this year all about DEXes, or "decentralized exchanges."

DEXes are entirely composed of smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. These systems are the "Ubers" of exchanges - they do not own any of their own liquidity, nor do they hold any of their users funds. This is accomplished through the underlying designs of public blockchain infrastructure and a unique incentivization for users to provide liquidity. The largest decentralized exchange, Uniswap, has more than 100,000 liquidity providers and has exchanged more than $1 trillion over its lifetime.

Join us for a dive into how DEXes work, challenges, and what might be next!

We will head to Second Draught after the presentation for a meet & greet.

Note: The Houston Ethereum Meetup does not receive funding of any kind and is run entirely by volunteers. We are keen to host more presentations this year. Please be patient as we sort out meeting space. If you have available meeting space for presentations, please reach out.
