Photowalk: Building Textures and Light Painting at Creepy Hollow

Details
Creepy Hollow has a very strict photography policy, but we have permission for rare off-season access to one of Texas’ most iconic haunted attractions—without the crowds, costumes, or chaos. Join us for a spooky-off-season photowalk at Creepy Hollow Haunted House, where we’ll explore eerie textures, weathered props, and dramatic lighting as the sun sets.
Creepy Hollow is just south of Houston on 288.
PHOTOWALKING CREEPY HOLLOW
This is a rare chance to photograph the exterior buildings of Creepy Hollow Haunted House without the usual Halloween crowds. We’ll explore the grounds during golden hour and into the night, capturing the eerie ambiance of this iconic location.
- Photographer’s Challenge: Seek out the intricate details in the Dark Woods area, where the combination of natural elements and man-made props creates compelling compositions.
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
As we begin in the late afternoon, the setting sun will cast dramatic shadows across the weathered facades and eerie props. As night falls, the environment transforms, offering opportunities for light painting and capturing the haunting ambiance under the stars.
This event is open to photographers of all skill levels. Whether you're using a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or smartphone, you'll find plenty of inspiration. Bring your creativity and a sense of adventure!
IMPORTANT INFO:
- Our access *indoors* will be limited. We may have some access, but due to construction and other factors, we will focus mostly on an outdoor photowalk.
- There will be no models, costumes or actors, just us and the buildings.
- Due to ongoing construction, please watch your step and be cautious of your surroundings.
- Bring a flashlight to navigate dimly lit areas safely.
- Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes; avoid sandals or heels.
- Bug repellent is recommended, as the area is wooded.
- For light painting, consider bringing strong flashlights, color gels, or other light-modifying tools.
- Wide-angle and fast lenses (e.g., f/1.4) are ideal for capturing the scene in low light.
PARKING:
Parking is available on the side of the building. Drive past the first driveway with the hearse in the yard and take the second driveway (572A). Park in the visitors' parking area on the left. We will meet near the ticket booth.
