Come at 6:30 to enjoy food provided by Onit! Please register on this form so we can have plenty of food.

We should have parking validation for the PROS garage and street parking is also available.

Very important since it's a big building and people got lost last time: there is a glass door on the 4th floor of the parking garage which leads into the PROS community space. Do not take an elevator to other parts of the building (we are not on the 6th floor even though Google Maps might lead you there). If you get lost, call either our PROS host Daniel Rutledge at (512) 299-0241 or Stephen Huey at (281) 728-9229 for help.

Beyond the Cloud: Adventures in Self-Hosting Rails

Are cloud deployments always the best choice? Houston compliance startup Fathom(x) decided to host their Rails app, and 15TB of data, on their own hardware rather than in an expensive public cloud. Join their founder Blake Emerson on a tour of their infrastructure as he shares practical advice on how to reliably self-host on bare metal. From early experiments with using Dokku as a Heroku alternative, to his current Kubernetes cluster across 288 cores, we will evaluate whether the status quo of "always use a cloud" is still relevant in the age of modern orchestration tools.
