King of the Court: 5v5 Street Soccer in EaDo Houston
Details
If you are looking for Houston's version of a street soccer court and atmosphere that looks like it's right out of the old FIFA Street video game, this is it!
Built from scratch on top of an old warehouse bay by members of Houston Town Futsal Club, this court was created as part of our Ball-A-Block program. It's our version of the Adopt-A-Block program, but in the process of picking up litter, we are also creating open spaces for public use where Houstonians can play soccer. Essentially, this is our DIY approach to making use of dilapidated asphalt surfaces and/or concrete structures and flipping them into pop-up futsal courts for pubic use.
Location
The Block Street Soccer Court is located in the parking lot of EaDog Park (across the street from 8th Wonder Brewery and the We Love Houston sign) at 2218 Polk St.
How We Play
King of the Court (winner stays)
Don't be a dick (don't be the one killing the vibe)
5v5 (no goalies)
1st team to two goals wins (5:00 minute games if no goal scored)
You shank, you shag (you kick the ball off the court then you get it)
What to Bring
Flats (court surface is concrete)
Water
Parking
There is parking just in front of the court, but the lot has several potholes, so park at your own risk. Also, do not leave valuables visible in your car.
Cost
$10 for 2 hours of pickup
100% of these funds go back to making improvements to the court and maintaining the space.
